Richard Gu, Chairman
Born in Shanghai China and educated in the United Kingdom, Richard has made a big impact in the Australian property market since starting business in 2005. Success has come from hard work, developing a feel for the local market and having the support of a professional team. Richard has developed a reputation as an innovative and visionary entrepreneur, winning an Australian China Business Award. Proud of his Chinese heritage but equally proud to call Australia home, Richard believes blending the best of Asian and Australia ingenuity and technology will see AXF Resources achieve similar success to its parent company and drive long term business growth.
Dr Shuang (Shaun) Ren, Managing Director
Shaun has more than 27 years of continued experience in the international mining industry. His experience covers base metals, precious metals and ferrous metals from exploration, feasibility, and mining. He was involved in the exploration and development of the Northparkes mine in NSW, Kanowna Belle mine in WA, and the Lanping deposit in China and has held senior positions at North, Billiton, Placer Dome, AngloGold Ashanti, Citic Pacific Mining and Standard Iron. Holding a PhD degree in economic geology from Australian National University, Shaun has acted as competent person for a range of reports to the Australia Stock Exchange and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Geological Society of Australia.
Philip Fairweather, General Manager – Finance & Administration
Holding a Bachelor of Commerce and a full member of CPA Australia, Phil is a respected finance leader with a broad range of experience in Australia, Papua New Guinea the United Kingdom and Africa particularly within the extractive resources industry. He has extensive knowledge of complex financial transactions, management and board reporting and leading large workforces across multiple departments including production, maintenance, construction, logistics, camp management and security. He has demonstrated ability in developing a strong team culture and motivating and empowering his subordinates. In his personal time away from his most recent role with ASX listed company Oil Search Ltd, Phil was jointly responsible for setting up a non-profit educational organization for the purpose of helping PNG employees improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
Dr Fiona Martin, General Manager – Community & Government Relations
Fiona has an MBA in International Marketing, a PhD in social impact and evaluation, business strategy and economic development and is a qualified CPA. With 20 years international resource sector experience in community and government relations, social impact assessment, sustainability, risk and assurance as well as community development, stakeholder engagement and public policy, Fiona is a passionate supporter of the establishment of strategies to realise shared value from large-scale projects. She specialises in the creation and alignment of governance frameworks to deliver corporate social responsibility and social licence expectations from the corporate to asset and site-based levels.
Lily Zhao, Senior Project Engineer
With a Bachelor of Engineering and 14 years experience in control system project management and engineering, Lily has a rich knowledge of electrical, mechanical and control system design, programming, commissioning and operational support. She has experience in project team leadership, tender evaluation and negotiation, strategic planning and cost control having developed her skills with companies such as Primero Group, Citic Pacific Mining and Daimler Chrysler.
